Keur Afrique
Percussionist from Senegal, West Africa
Welcome
|
Pape Mbaye |
A fishing village off the beautiful coast of Senegal is where Pape Mbaye grew up. From a very young age, Pape was instructed by his elders in all cultural aspects of being a Griot which is his birth right.
Where most only master the djembe, as a very gifted percussionist, Pape went on to master not only the djembe, but also the sabar, tama (talking drum) and bougarabou. Pape is also a dancer and choreographer.
Since moving to Sydney Australia, Pape has been playing for Gervais Koffi & the African Diaspora and for Marsala. And he now has his very own African band, Tambacounda. |

Pape would like to share with you his cultural heritage
